>Dave Dwyer moved to
Sydney from Emerald, Central Queensland in 1983 to further his musical
career. Since that time he has worked extensively in both the live touring
scene & the studio session scene, as not only a guitarist &
vocalist, but he has also spent numerous hours on the other side of the
mixing console as a producer / engineer / arranger for other artists.
Hailed as the new 'Young Gun' throughout the industry, Dave was described
as the "new Larry Carlton with a serious jazz / funk attitude".
Dave Dwyer featured on his first record at the age of 17. |
| In 1989, Dave was chosen as the 'additional' lead guitarist in the Ian Moss band on the 'Tucker's Daughter Tour'. |
| From there he went on to join the multi ARIA award winning band 1927 as lead guitar player / keyboard player & vocalist, touring & recording with them both nationally & internationally for the next five years. In 1992, Dave was awarded an ARIA Platinum Album, in recognition of his work with 1927. |
| In
mid 1993 Dave moved to Los Angeles to work with legendary Doobie Brothers
& Steely Dan guitarist Jeff Baxter, on a solo project of his own for
Roo Art Records. Whilst in L.A, Dave performed guest appearances with Steve Lukather, Steve Morse, Don Henley, Joe Walsh, Albert Lee, John Ferraro, Phil Chen & Lee Rocker. |
| From 1994 onwards, Dave began working on new songs for his publisher Warner/Chappell for his own projects (free time permitting!). With new management at WCM in 2002, and after scoring several international album sampler cuts - Warner Chappell Australia closed the doors and transferred their rights in 2004 to Origin Music Publishing. |
| In 1997, Dave launched his
'state-of-the-art' digital recording studio in Sydney. Dave has since
produced / engineered several acts including 'The Angels' "Live at
Selina's", Channel Nine's "Footy Show" themes, various
musical works for film, television & radio (check out our CLIENT LIST
link). In December 2000, Dave was approached by Michael Browning Management & Sony Music Entertainment to assist with their latest 'up & coming star' Tony Lee Scott on a Production Management level. To date, Gangstar continues to produce showcases for artists on Sony's A&R roster. Gangstar was relocated to the Blue Mountains in April 2001 and is now closed for commercial use, focusing only as a special projects and song writing suite. |

Concurrent with Dave's career as lead guitarist, he has also had many years of 'first hand' experience with all of Roland's guitar and digital audio products. Dave's involvement with Roland goes all the way back to his early days in Sydney as a young guitar player demonstrating Roland's extensive range of BOSS guitar effects & the Roland guitar synthesizers. He was also involved with Roland Japan's R&D department for Digital Audio Products, assisting with design, development & beta testing of the VS series of Digital Studio Workstations & VM series of Digital Studio Mixers. During the past 23 years, Dave has grounded himself in the Australian music wholesale scene as a leading product manager, product developer, product demonstrator and sales director. The next logical step was to follow! |
