Rock
icon sets up in Glenbrook
The
Blue Mountains has proven to be a haven for the rich and famous of late.
The
most recent addition to the area's list of celebrity citzens is ex-1927
guitarist Dave Dwyer, who on top of his work with 1927, has played with
such Australian rock legends as Jimmy Barnes, Ian Moss and The Angels,
as well as members of Deep Purple, The Eagles and Stray Cats.
Dave
has moved to Glenbrook, not only to live, but to further his business
- focusing on propagating the promising Blue Mountains Music Industry.
Dave,
along with his wife Rebecca has established Gangstar Productions, Gangstar
Studios and Gangstar Records - a trio of companies that Dave hopes will
allow him to assist local bands who cannot otherwise access recording
studios.
His
plan is to form partnerships with local bands, whereby he would provide
the facility of his 72-track state-of-the-art studio (produced by Dave)
who in return would take a larger percentage of the profit from the sale
of the record.
He
believes this would make the producer closer to the band and would make
it more likely for them to stay a team for longer. It would also help
new bands get heard publicly, who otherwise would not.
Along
with the 72-track Dave has a mobile 24-track facility, on which he could
record, produce and engineer live performances, straight from the microphones,
bypassing the in-house sound engineer.
Dave
has also made himself available as a guitar teacher to students of any
level.
Dave
said he "had always wanted to give something back to the music industry
that has given him so much". The musicians of the Blue Mountains
have been lucky enough to have this arrive in their backyards.
